The Mock Battle Arena
Saferoom deck-combat simulator
A paid practice room run out of Floor-8 saferooms where squads rehearse deck-to-deck combat against simulated opponents. Players pick a difficulty tier (matched to their deck, up to a rewarding “challenge” level) and an environment: anything from an arena to a fully realized 1980s shopping mall, complete with interactive, physical-bodied NPCs who get underfoot just like the Desperado Club's patrons. The simulation can hurt you, and any consumable card played here is spent for good, but totems can't truly kill, making it the only safe place to learn how volatile cards like Uzi Jesus and the Bedlam Bride behave together. Cascadia raises its prices as phase two nears.
Book 6 appearances
- Chapter 9 — Donut’s first fumbling practice run: the harmless Squonk dissolves rather than fight.
- Chapter 28 — Carl and Donut drill their full six-totem deck in the 1980s-mall sim against Rude-Dolph; Shi Maria and Uzi Jesus turn on each other and the spider’s fifth eye reaches Carl even here.
