Perriso
Mount species · Sweety's breed
The breed of Sweety, the mount Prepotente and Jurgen ride through the Gasworks heat. A Perriso is a mammoth-sized, fat grey, monstrously ugly tapir-like beast carried on legs strong enough to hurl its own bulk across a ninety-metre gap, and it is ridden not from a saddle but from a square caged litter strapped to its back. Dong Quixote recognises the breed on sight, rates them wonderful mounts, and warns that they are deceptively fast for creatures that size — fast enough to overtake Carl's truck across an open factory floor and to gallop a wall as though it were level ground.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 63 — Dong Quixote names the breed when Prepotente's mount overtakes the truck and breaks its containment merge — a fat grey monstrously ugly beast the size of a mammoth, carrying a caged litter with its own shield over it.
- Chapter 65 — Sweety runs the wall track sideways on flaming feet as though it were flat ground, her litter rotating on its own to keep both riders upright.
