The orbital screening before Odette’s show
A new screening room crawlers are routed through before reaching the production trailer: the “extra scrutiny” Zev warned about. It turns out to be an orbiting ship high above Earth: a featureless chamber with a glass floor through which Carl and a nauseated Donut look straight down at the Indian Ocean and Madagascar, near-weightless in the ship’s slow spin. It is the same last view the cookbook annotator Coolie had before he died attacking a pair of admins. Two real Shade Gnoll Riot Forces mercenaries drop in commando-style to pat the pair down for explosives.
