The Security Guard
When the collective reached its final form as the Eulogist and went to sleep, it left a lesser copy of itself on watch. The System AI calls that copy the Security Guard, and describes it as absolutely bonkers by now. Its standing purpose is unchanged: make certain all biological life in the universe stays dead. The Eulogist's own goal is only to sleep, shrinking as it sleeps until it reaches singularity, and the guard is supposed to protect that sleep — but it is very bad at the job. It constantly peels tiny pieces off itself and flings them out into the galaxy, and those pieces are the Residuals, Agatha's kind among them. The Apothecary sheds fragments the same way as a defensive measure, and the AI's opinion is that she is every bit as crazy as the guard is.
