A Parade of Horribles · Chapter 92

A Story in Five Parts, Four of Them Told

Chaco arrives at the front on Lamashtu, an enormous subjugated god in showgirl regalia and crow talons, and manages three sentences of his script before breaking down on live broadcast; his wings are torn off where he stands. The AI takes Grigori's body instead — a dungeon-born NPC, unlike the former crawler Chaco — and narrates four parts of the Primals' history float by float while each team is graded: the Resolution, the Decision, the doomsday weapon built out of the collective, and the war that ended it. Team one is punished for a C effort with everyone's legs. The Apothecary's origin, the Primal Engines, the Eulogist's sleep and its deranged Security Guard all land in one monologue, and the mantid AI factories get a hand-clap and a farewell. Prepotente goes off script and sings a cappella to Sweety's stomping; Carl answers with the difference between revenge and vengeance, springs the Unwashed effigy over the judging stand, holds the galaxy culpable, and drops the sluggalos on an audience of masked, bound elites.
