Carl's Vengeance Broadcast
The Princess Posse's contribution to the judging stand, and the only part of the parade that was scripted by a crawler. With the Auto-Tune off and Donut's headset microphone borrowed, Carl opens on a definition: revenge is direct action against whoever harmed you, but vengeance is righteous punishment, and it does not have to be direct. Donut pulls the string, the giant magenta-and-white dahlia triangle falls apart, and the effigy the gremlins built springs up like a jack-in-the-box — the Unwashed, the thing Juice Box became, an upside-down tree with smoking eyes and black flowers shedding to reveal rivers of red. It bookends the Midnight Epicure at the head of the procession: the Epicure as vengeance against the predators of the galaxy, the Unwashed as the personification of the Nothing and a reminder that death comes for everyone. Then Carl points at it and speaks to the galaxy — everyone who took part in the murder of his people and everyone who stayed quiet is culpable, there is no justice available and revenge needs a party directly responsible, but the survivors will remember, and they are coming. On the last line the airship's bay doors open and the sluggalos rain down on the stands full of masked, bound bankers, politicians and elites.
