A spell cast over everyone in an area to read their capabilities. The Wild Hunt delivers it as form magic, a team casting performed as a synchronized tumbling routine through the roundabout, so that by the time the three Razor Foxes stop moving they know exactly how strong Carl and Donut are. Chiyome explains it afterward and offers a flat non-apology.

• Chapter 12 — Carl and Donut read the routine as a performance and then as an attack; neither guesses it is a scan until Chiyome says so.
