The Wild Hunt

The three-Razor-Fox team racing out of garage four: Chiyome in red, and two silent teammates in black suits, one with a sword strapped across his back and one carrying a chain with a curved blade. They announce themselves with a synchronized tumbling routine that is really a team casting, then flip away through the portal without a word, heads down. Their garage opens on a dark space full of white-and-brown fur that Donut takes for a bear, and Chiyome says Onikuma comes with nothing but a never-ending supply of fleas.

• Chapter 12 — Only Chiyome speaks or shows her face; the other two keep their heads down through the whole encounter and never take a beer.
