Everything in the Room
Every table, chair, slot machine and NPC in the casino sprouts a jagged mouth, roughly fifty mimics between level 25 and 120, and Donut releases Mongo and triples him with Clockwork Triplicate. The System AI interrupts the ambush with a Story Time dump: Mitch is an adolescent Shadow Mimic, a species that grows in power without limit, is almost impossible to detect and is the natural counter to changeling principals. It then lists the Big Six groups now fighting over the dungeon, withholding the sixth until the eleventh floor, and explains that the real Mitch was a Wall Rat, an NPC with persistent memory across seasons, whom the mimic ate. Once surprise is gone the mimics fold: Lucia debuts a gold lasso whose loop is a portal that shears a mimic in half, Elle, Florin and Imani clear the room, and the dead collapse into thin armless grey forms. Cornered against the Bopca mural, Mitch names the war mages, the ogres and Cock-A-Doodle-Do as rivals for the dungeon's back door before Carl reflexively opens the Eye of the Bedlam Bride, freezing him for Donut's killing missile.
