• Chapter 15 — York’s rambling 10th-edition essay on “the hive” sticks with Carl as crawlers are stranded on the tracks.
• Chapter 17 — Herot’s 16th-edition “Worn Path Method” essay teaches Carl to break NPCs out of their thin false memories.
• Chapter 34 — Carl writes its 25th edition, vowing not just to survive the dungeon but to break it: “They will not break me… But I will break them. I will break them all.”
