The Containment Interface

An unregistered, highly illegal Valtay-built neural enhancement that Goff has Carl drink down (hidden in a cup of frozen coffee) at the Christmas-morning shelter. Pacifist-modified, it adds a new menu to Carl's interface that grants access to the AI containment and to “the fuse,” the Mantid-built failsafe that, once tripped, sends the system's star nova and kills everyone, the AI included. It works only on a natural interface, only with the existing AI's permission, and only once the first part of the fuse is tripped. Faced with the doomsday menu, Carl will instead choose its other option, Disconnect Containment, to free the AI.
