Heat Four

The System's brief for the fourth heat, delivered as an info box while Carl is walking rather than driving. Roughly 99 kilometres over an unpaved jungle trail with a mandatory refuelling pit stop inside the lost city of Upano, individual paths carrying their own tasks, a containment unit fitted around the vehicle, acid rain, a twenty-hour limit and three other heats sharing the same track. Other groups draw different tracks; Prepotente's and Louis's teams are both routed onto one billed as Satan's Water Park.

• Chapter 33 — The brief lands seven hours and three minutes before the start, and Carl notes the gap between races is shrinking.
• Chapter 51 — The results board: the Royal Court of Princess Donut first, the Lady Dominators and the Gimp second, Team Flamengo third, Team Free Love fourth, Team Sparkles fifth, and One Fine Pig eliminated.
