Mehmet Or
A human Sipahi who reached level 62 and then took a deal at the end of the eighth floor, leaving his page in Carl's Book of Boom. He ran an inherited bowling alley in Istanbul, a job he never loved and stayed with anyway because that was what was expected of him; his mother was still alive the day it happened, and his pregnant wife died in the hydra by his own hand. His daughters Azra and Yaz were outside with him and did not step into the light, so he believes they are alive wherever the dungeon keeps the children, and he asks Carl to find them and tell them their father fought for them. He begs forgiveness for taking the deal, calling it cowardice and saying he is too scared and too tired to risk any more. His drawing is a bowling alley; his contribution is the spell Gutter Bumper.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 49 — His Book of Boom page opens the chapter: a bowling-alley owner from Istanbul who took a deal after Carl helped save his life at the end of the eighth floor, asking Carl to find his daughters Azra and Yaz and leaving behind the spell his party's mage prized.
- Chapter 50 — Carl reflects that he never met Mehmet - a Turkish support caster who kept his party buffed and saved countless lives in the pitched battles of Faction Wars - and counts him and people like him as the dungeon's real heroes.
- Chapter 51 — Azra, speaking out of Lucia Mar, says the shining lady told her Carl was given one of her father's spells; Carl guesses the bowling alley, confirms the man is her father, and tells her he is safe and loves her - and she says another of the trapped, Yaz, is in there crying.
