Milk & Potatoes (OIPAN’s Coded Message)

During the Shadow Boxer taping, host Rosetta Thagra steers Carl into the milk-and-potato stew he used to cook at the boys’ ranch, then plants a phrase straight from the Anarchist’s Cookbook: “potatoes are very versatile,” answered “very… just like all root vegetables.” It is a recognition signal: Carl realizes Rosetta wrote the cookbook’s ninth edition and the author Milk its sixth, and that his baffling pacifist sponsor OIPAN is staffed by former cookbook owners deliberately trying to steer him. The hidden instruction concerns the toraline root vegetable (the “yam thing”) though exactly what they want him to do with it stays unclear. Harbinger ends the interview the instant he smells the code, calls it cheating, and bans Rosetta from ever interviewing a crawler again.
