Quest: The Nine-Tier Attack
The AI's answer to being told to work inside the rules it had been given: a nine-part quest built on nine escalating attacks by Scolopendra. As announced, the attacks reach the Scolopendra levels and any level holding crawlers — sparing the lone crawler who had reached the sixteenth floor and everyone on the seventeenth, though the System qualified that they were only safe from this — and the in-game Scolopendra's attacks stay contained inside the dungeon. The first several are described as temporary and survivable, with the first carrying only a twenty percent chance of landing on any given target if it is unprotected. At least thirty hours are meant to separate assaults unless Scolopendra is confronted directly or further upset, in which case the rest may come hard and fast; beyond that, the timing of each incident is random. The quest's reward is withheld until the ninth attack begins, if it ever does.

- Chapter 81 — The AI announced a nine-part quest built on Scolopendra's nine attacks, set the scope at the Scolopendra levels plus every level holding crawlers, promised at least thirty hours between assaults unless she was confronted or further upset, admitted it did not know what the first attack would be, and withheld the reward until the ninth.
- Chapter 92 — Its origin is finally stated: the collective initiated the nine-tier attack to end the war to end all wars, believed it had achieved genocide, and evolved into the Eulogist on the strength of that mistake.
- Chapter 94 — Scolopendra is already spinning up the second of the nine because the crawlers riled her — and the System warns that killing her or abandoning her on a collapsing floor triggers every remaining attack at once, with nothing anyone can do about it.
