The Seventeenth Floor
Never reached · The Cabaret's front door
A small hand-built floor of greatly enhanced mobs from earlier floors, a maze of horrible traps, and a boss Akuma calls all but impossible to kill. Nobody ever gets this far, but showrunners are required to have plans for it, so Herot and Menerva were granted the job and have rebuilt it from scratch every season since. Nobody reviews anything above the thirteenth floor, which is the point: the only known entrance to the Pineapple Cabaret hangs off it.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 38 — Akuma describes the arrangement: the showrunner who approved the project was murdered shortly after and never transferred the paperwork, so its two builders accrue no indenture hours and are effectively invisible.
- Chapter 79 — A version of the same holding area was how the seventeenth floor's NPCs had been plucked out, which was part of why Rosetta believed such places were real.
- Chapter 81 — The AI exempted the one crawler who had reached the 16th floor and everyone on the 17th from the nine attacks, then qualified it: they were fine from this.
- Chapter 94 — Listed among the floors still to be crossed if the crawlers survive: the fourteenth and sixteenth are not an issue, the thirteenth is a problem, and the seventeenth especially so.
