Shadow Mimics
Shapeshifter family · Mordecai's true kind
One of the dungeon's shapeshifter families, and what Mordecai finally admits he is. He reduces shapeshifters to three basic kinds — changelings, doppelgangers and mimics — with everything else a variation on one of those. Mimics copy only the shape of a thing, where a changeling can pick up some of its powers, which is why a Moon Reaper's gaze keeps misfiring through him. Shadow mimics are the intelligent, generally evil branch, able to take the form of anything nearby. They and changelings are mortal enemies: touching a shadow mimic makes a changeling violently ill, while a shadow mimic considers changelings delicious.
