Knockers
The staff of the Gasworks factory and the shareholders of the Coblyn Corporation. Tiny round-faced creatures about Zev's height, in bright yellow hard hats, reading as a scaled-down Bopca crossed with a gnome, and running levels 10 to 15. Hundreds fill the pellet hall and scatter when the heat rolls in; vehicles trample them by the handful, and the ones deeper in the factory are found simply passed out under the drug cloud with symbols hanging over their heads. Their history is the corporation's: driven off their own mineral-rich caves by the Corporatocracy that took over the mines, too weak to fight and with nowhere to go, they answered by manufacturing high-grade drugs and selling them to the miners. The System bills them as pretty harmless and unable to fight back — but very protective of their new product, which is what the magically built help is for.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 63 — Hundreds of them fill the pellet hall and scatter as the vehicles roll in. Team Free Love's floating van mows over a pair, and goblins on an ostrich mount trample another group. The System's product description credits them with inventing the whole drug business after the mines took their caves.
- Chapter 64 — Carl's truck bumps over a group of them passed out in the cocaine cloud, each with a symbol over its head he has no time to examine.
