Place · debuts Book 8, Chapter 51 — “The Girl Inside Lucia Mar”
Gasworks Screw Factory, Steel Mill, and Doll Workshop
Next race track · about 20 kilometres
The track posted for the race after the fourth heat, roughly twenty kilometres of industry: a screw factory, a steel mill, and a doll workshop the System bills with a straight-faced denial that it fronts for anything else. It demands vertical climb, inverted racing and gap coverage of up to a hundred metres, with multiple routes to the exit. The environment is extreme heat with molten metal, survivable only inside a containment field; the stated tasks are to avoid being squished, melted or screwed. Every path is wide enough for two vehicles at most, eleven other heats share it, and the limit is thirty minutes.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 51 — Dr. Metcalf posts the limited details the moment Carl sits back down, and Donut says plainly that she does not like it.
- Chapter 52 — The track's climbs, inversions and molten metal drive the whole upgrade decision: the golden Bubble Buddy, a heat sink, booster rockets and Roller Limbo.
- Chapter 59 — The plant materialises beyond the newly opened road to the starting block, three businesses on one flickering marquee, as Genesis and Rapture pull out for the heat.
- Chapter 61 — Prepotente leaves the guild saying he will see Carl and Donut in the factory, and will send his plan once he has conferred with Jurgen.
- Chapter 62 — Looms ahead of the starting line as Dr. Metcalf reads out the map: wide-open spaces strung together by narrow tracks, a traverse from one section to the next, no obviously safe path, multiple neighborhood bosses in the middle, and a room whose entire floor is molten metal that must be crossed on the walls or ceiling.
- Chapter 63 — Named as the heat passes the entrance gate. Carl's leg runs the pellet hall, the conveyor climb to the melting vats with a ninety-metre jump between belts, and into the room heaped with raw Toddler Cocaine.
- Chapter 64 — The doll-packing room: crates stacked to the ceiling, a deliberately narrow path, a light bright enough that Carl reads it as a trap, and a floor that gives way under the Dominators' car for a ten-metre drop.
- Chapter 65 — The molten-metal hall. Three storeys with a river of metal for a floor, flat Hot Wheels-style conduits crossing the walls and ceiling, and every other surface spiked so nothing can drive on it.
