Containment Theft
Race hazard · enabled for the factory track
A hazard switched on for the factory-and-mill race. If one racer's containment touches another's for more than five seconds, the loser may forfeit their containment when the two separate - which on a course of molten metal and extreme heat is the difference between finishing and cooking. The System summarises the rule as an instruction not to bump the other racers. Hedy treats containments breaking left and right as a certainty, which is why she pushes the full shield upgrade.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 51 — Listed under Hazards in the next race's briefing, with the plain-language version appended: do not bump your fellow racers.
- Chapter 52 — Hedy builds the upgrade plan around it, expecting containments to fail across the field and pushing the golden shield as the fallback against molten steel.
