Meat Shields (the Mercenary Market)

The dungeon's mercenary marketplace, where crawlers can hire NPC fighters onto multi-floor contracts: the supply line behind a Faction-Wars army. Most of the Penis Parade's dancers turn out to be secret Meat Shields members, parked in the club by Astrid to keep her sons safe; their home-office manager is the one-legged elderly dwarf stripper Rosemarie. When the club is condemned, Carl spends his 100,000-gold Meat Shields coupon to hire the entire male crew (thirteen dancers, the skeleton DJ Doctor Bones, and the croc kid Bucket Boy) on a two-floor contract, rescuing them from reassignment to the Larracos level and stocking the Princess Posse's new barracks and “Mercenary Arcade” training arena.

• Chapter 2 — Mordecai gives Carl a 100,000-gold mercenary coupon and names "Meat Shields" as the mercenary markets found on the floor.
• Chapter 34 — Carl cashes his Meat Shields coupon to hire the whole Penis Parade crew for two floors, housing them in the guild’s barracks and Mercenary Arcade ahead of Faction Wars.
