Reaper Gaze

A Moon Reaper's gaze attack fires once for each new person it meets, and Mordecai's new body works through the whole household. His hood falls back on a burning eyeball, his tea shatters on the floor, and a different voice hands each of them a piece of doom: two opposing sides are reaching for Carl, Donut faces the darkest decision ever made and a sacrifice counted in lives and souls, Bigs is promised a drowning in fire, and Splash Zone is told he will die in front of his family. Samantha is left crying and retreats to the training room. Mordecai remembers none of it, and insists the effect is built to frighten rather than to foretell, because nothing in the dungeon can genuinely predict the future.

• Chapter 7 — Mordecai addresses Donut by her title as Oak Fell Champion of Nekhebit while delivering hers, and Rosetta afterwards asks that he be kept away from the rest of the household for the floor.
