Mordecai's Animistic Spirit Form
Non-corporeal · occupies physical objects
The body the dungeon issues Mordecai for the eleventh floor, and he is candid that it makes him almost useless: an animistic spirit has no form of its own and inhabits physical objects instead. He can still coach over party chat, but he cannot fight, and he cannot speak aloud unless he moves into something with a mouth, which he says he will not be any good at within the few hours they have. He notes it is not the first time the dungeon has made him one of these. He spends the run-up to the parade as the safe-room kitchen table, with Samantha sitting on him and Donut standing beside him, an arrangement she declares unacceptable on the grounds that they had just been forced to fight a table.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 88 — Mordecai announces his new floor body over chat as an animistic spirit, explains the non-corporeal object-occupying arrangement and that it is not his first, and warns Donut he will be no physical help at all this floor.
- Chapter 89 — He turns out to be the safe-room kitchen table Carl sits down at and Samantha is perched on; he can hear the room but cannot answer unless he shifts into something with a mouth, and admits he is bad at moving and will not improve in a few hours.
