Character · debuts Book 6, Chapter 5 — “The Three at the Stairwell”
Ogun
God of blacksmiths & protection
God of blacksmiths and protection, followed by both Anton and Paz. Mordecai calls him grumpy, like all gods, but useful: his faithful cannot be charmed, their weapons strike with extra punch, and he grants each worshipper several protection spells. Sister Ines pointedly refuses to bow to him, calling him a false god with too many silly rules. A worshipped god is also a tell: spotting the glowing symbol over a crawler's head (Ogun's is a palm frond) signals they carry the same divine sight Carl gained from Emberus.
Book 6 appearances
- Chapter 5 — Introduced as the blacksmith-and-protection god both Anton and Paz worship; Sister Ines refuses him.
- Chapter 6 — Sister Ines calls him a false god with too many silly rules, but notes he grants each worshipper several protection spells.
- Chapter 15 — One of the seven shrine-gods in the thorn room: repairing his shrine only spares his worshippers a smite.
- Chapter 16 — Summoned in person when Carl repairs Yemaya’s shrine instead: he crushes Anton, strips Paz of his god’s grace, and spares Carl alone out of respect for Emberus.
