Team One Fine Pig Has Been Eliminated

Carl's two hidden traps fire back at the garage while he is at the pit stop, and the System tells him he has dissolved a Tigran and then another. Team One Fine Pig is declared eliminated for the expiration of both racers, leaving five teams in the race. Carl holds his breath waiting for a notification about Penelope and none comes, confirming the pig outlives her handlers. The kill is payment for the mercenaries the team's vehicle ran down, and Carl immediately reframes the race around it: win the heat, take the key, get the pig.

Book 8 appearances

• Chapter 47 — The pair of notifications arrives before Carl can announce his new track; Penelope is not mentioned in them, and Carl turns straight to Florin about slowing down Dwight.
• Chapter 51 — Named on the fourth heat's board as the eliminated team, which is what leaves their house and garage standing empty in the circle.
• Chapter 53 — Their now-empty home is the closest in the circle, and their garage still holds a cracked-windshield APV, a spent gremlin and the pig they left behind.
