Li Na's Exit in the Cleaner Bot
The party's answer to Li Na: get her off the playing field instead of killing her. Mordecai lays out the loophole, an XL pet carrier will swallow a willing crawler for roughly ten seconds before it breaks, and a cleaner bot's weight-based utility inventory is the one container that can take the loaded carrier. So Zhang points the carrier at her, the white bot Suckira picks it up, Mordecai switches the bot off, and Donut lists it for sale so Herot can buy it and empty her out inside the Pineapple Cabaret. Because the Cabaret sits outside the playing field she will be recorded as lost rather than deceased. Nobody is certain the contents transfer with the sale, or that she survives the floor's collapse; Mistress Tiatha says only that it has been done before. Li Na, silent for days, speaks once — to absolve Zhang, to promise she will clear the way for everyone who follows and keep the war mages from turning — and then goes into the box. A dread-trapped cactus is the only channel left to tell the party what became of her, and one bot can move perhaps fifty more people after her.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 61 — Mordecai walks the party through the carrier-and-bot loophole while Rosetta and Mistress Tiatha weigh the risks: the contents may not transfer with the sale, and nobody knows whether Li Na survives the floor's collapse.
- Chapter 61 — Zhang presses the button himself, Suckira swallows the buzzing carrier, Mordecai shuts the bot down and Donut lists it for sale; the terminal reports the sale, the cactus shows no change, and the Oak Fell speaks through Mordecai for a sentence.
- Chapter 85 — Li Na's departure has a measurable consequence: Carl reckons Donut is now the strongest crawler in the dungeon, by far.
