The Missing Piece
The hybrid World quest that resolves Floor Eight, fought on the lopped-off roof of the FOSCA tower. After Louis kills Sister Ines, her patron goddess Ysalte (the Vinegar Bitch) enters and seizes the full-power demon prince Amayon; the System frames it as a final card battle: five crawler decks must kill Amayon's six totems (to free him to cast his portal home) while keeping the immortal Ysalte's deck from running dry for ten minutes. Part One, “The Big O,” forces a twist: the dead world has too few souls to power the portal, so Carl must talk the crab Raul into refertilizing the seas to refill it, then trigger his Martyr's Path to bathe Amayon in Sheol fire. Paz Lo slays Ysalte from inside her own deck; Amayon casts a planet-spanning portal. Part Two, “Falling Up,” lets keyless crawlers ride the hell-portal up through buried stairwell chambers to Floor Nine.

- Chapter 66 — Ysalte enters and enslaves the full-size Amayon; the System sets the rules: kill six totems, starve the goddess’s deck for ten minutes.
- Chapter 67 — Part One reveals the dead world lacks the souls to power the portal: “refill the world with souls.”
- Chapter 68 — “The Big O”: Carl coaxes the crab Raul into refertilizing the seas to replenish the world’s souls.
- Chapter 69 — Carl’s Martyr’s Path buffs Amayon while Paz Lo kills Ysalte from inside her own deck.
- Chapter 72 — Part Two, “Falling Up”: the planet-spanning portal sucks the keyless up into Floor 9; quest complete: “Hell Comes to Crawler Town.”
