Chalchiuhtlicue
A goddess new to the dungeon, shortened to Chachi by Samantha and then by everybody else. She reaches the crawlers through Lucia Mar without needing Cici or Gus as an anchor the way the Residual and the Primal did, and she tells the children inside Lucia that she is kind, that she will protect them, and that the kindest thing may be to let them die. Samantha knows her socially: a green-skirted, weepy, badly unstable deity who preaches the protection of children and then has them sacrificed over trivialities, once ordering a village day care killed because her meatballs tasted of cilantro. Rosetta Thagra places her as obscure and never sponsored, a catchall of childbirth, women, water, fire and harvest whose scattered portfolio reads well on a manifest and performs badly in the Ascendency. Prepotente matches her to the Aztec goddess of the same name, considered benevolent by a culture that practised human sacrifice and credited with a flood myth born of her weeping. Carl works out that she is one of the gods that got loose in the dungeon, and that she is now inside Lucia Mar's head with the trapped children.

- Chapter 51 — Speaking through Lucia Mar, the presence names itself and says it is new to this place, that it needs no anchor the way the Residual and the Primal did, that it is kind and may yet be kindest by letting the children die.
- Chapter 52 — Samantha smells her on Carl, supplies the nickname Chachi, and describes a green-skirted crier who talks about saving children and then has them killed - including a whole village day care over a plate of meatballs that tasted of soap.
- Chapter 53 — Rosetta calls her obscure and unsponsored, a catchall goddess of childbirth, women, water, fire and harvest; Prepotente ties her to the Aztec goddess of the same name and her flood myth of many days' weeping.
