The Cleaner Bot Plan
The second of two schemes for moving crawlers off the floor and into the Pineapple Cabaret, and the one Carl commits to once the casino option collapses. Its hinge is an artificial shortage: the Cleaner Bot upgrade vanished from the personal space shop because Herot holds a standing order on every unit that appears, which both proves he has a working shop interface inside the Cabaret and gives the party something the trapped AI will reliably buy. Mordecai and Rosetta Thagra have tested their half on Samantha and then on sluggalos and call it feasible with wrinkles; the shop-interface half cannot be tested while that order stands, so it rests on Akuma having told the truth. Carl means to run it on Li Na first, with the whole story told to her rather than tricked past her, and on several crawlers at once after the fifth heat.
Book 8 appearances
- Chapter 54 — Carl counts the war mage plan as one of the three things that will get the party through, and puts it off until after the karaoke and the Corcunda quest.
- Chapter 55 — Chosen over the casino option and declared a go: the standing cleaner bot order proves Herot's shop interface, Mordecai and Rosetta Thagra have tested their end, and Li Na is to be the first run before it is tried on several crawlers after the fifth heat.
- Chapter 79 — Akuma rated the casino portal safer, more reliable and higher-capacity than the cleaner bot, which had been the route out until then.
