Creature · debuts Book 8, Chapter 85 — “Ten Thousand Gold a Spin”

Mitch Fiorelli

Wheel of Fortune croupier · adolescent Shadow Mimic · Enforcer for a redacted faction

The level 120 croupier working the Wheel of Fortune in the remodelled Desperado Casino, described as the guy who will tea-bag you and, less comfortably, as an Enforcer for a redacted faction whose soldiers may not be further examined. He replaced Tito, has a full mouth of white teeth where Tito had a few crooked ones, and refuses to say what became of him. Mitch admits that Pontiff tipped him a thousand gold to stop the wheel on the requoted Nothing spot and jump in, and then sells the crawlers the same favour at two thousand each plus a twenty per cent tip, escalating to five, then ten thousand a head as they cheat and haggle. He is a mimic: his human upper half hangs slack like a discarded puppet while his midsection splits into a fanged mouth with a serpentine tongue, and he is the strongest of the fifty-odd mimics that spring the ambush. Cornered and legless, he offers a deal and names the war mages, the ogres and Cock-A-Doodle-Do as rivals for the dungeon's back door before lunging at Carl; Carl's Eye freezes him and Donut finishes him. The real Mitch was a Wall Rat, and this thing ate him.
