Team Sparkles

The rival team of Dwight the unicorn and Lucienne, racing a vehicle grown from living vine and bramble and fitted with a booster-rocket accessory that made it the fastest thing on the fourth heat's track. Florin calls the bush thing quick enough to stay on his tail, then puts a Denial of Service missile into it, and Satan swats the vine out of the loop alongside Florin's tuk-tuk; it comes down burning and glazed with goo. Lucienne, who was driving, is pulled off it entirely by Donut's rodent summons and killed against the finish line, leaving Dwight screaming inside a smouldering vehicle that only spins in circles. They still place fifth, and the bugbears drag Dwight in afterwards.

Book 8 appearances

• Chapter 50 — Their vine is fast enough to run down Florin's tuk-tuk, takes a Denial of Service missile, is swatted off the loop by Satan, and ends up spinning helplessly with Dwight aboard after Lucienne is summoned away and killed.
• Chapter 51 — Placed fifth in the fourth heat; Carl tells the bugbears to tow the stranded survivor in while Donut argues about whether letting him live is worth it.
• Chapter 52 — Jasha and Radoslav find the vehicle still turning circles outside the exit and drag Dwight in, a decision Carl is not sure about.
• Chapter 66 — Listed first in the fifth heat's standings, ahead of Team Free Love, Team Flamengo and the Royal Court.
• Chapter 67 — Donut demands to know how the unicorn won; Osvaldo passes on Jasha's account that he skipped the factory interior entirely, drove up the exterior wall to the roof and dropped off it onto the finish line, taking the whole heat with a route nobody else spotted.
• Chapter 77 — Takes first place in the sixth heat.
• Chapter 79 — Team Sparkles was locked into Carl and Donut's final heat alongside Team Flamengo.
• Chapter 82 — Team Sparkles was the first team eliminated in the final race, and the System's notice broke off mid-sentence to call the kill badass.
